Primarily we require rhythm section players (piano, guitar, bass and drums) and horn players (trumpets, trombones, saxophones), but other instruments will be considered

Content
In rehearsals, we learn a broad range of repertoire from genres that fall under the jazz umbrella, including swing, Latin and jazz-influenced pop songs
Sessions work to develop students’ improvisation skills in a collaborative and open rehearsal process where they are encouraged to take musical risks and experiment, and are introduced to improvisational concepts which will allow them to craft informed and stylistically appropriate solos
We learn some pieces from sheet music and others by ear, to help develop both sight reading and aural skills

Jazz band always perform at our termly music concerts, as well as in assemblies and at school events such as open evening
