“History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again”
– Dr Maya Angelou –
The History vision is to first and foremost, foster a passion for History. Through a study of diverse topics students will explore varying time periods, societies as well as key moments in history that help to explain the world as it is today. Identity is vital to the study of history and our own place within society. The History curriculum allows students to develop their own understanding of the society they live in and their place within it. They will be challenged to consider how society has developed and changed over time. We look to develop students that can question the world around them effectively. To this end, students will develop the skills required to be analytical and critical thinkers. We foster this through the practice of historical concepts such as change and continuity, significance and cause and consequence. Students will also analyse and evaluate sources and interpretations.
