Biology at Darrick Wood School is designed to instil an appreciation of the wonders of the natural world from a biological perspective. It helps students to understand how biology is used in our everyday lives, including the understanding of how our bodies work, the importance of a healthy lifestyle, threats to our bodies, including how drugs can affect them, as well as how best to promote good hygiene and the prevention of disease transmission. Biology helps students to develop the skills and knowledge that enable them to be scientifically literate. It also prepares students to be able to make informed choices where biology affects their lives and the environment as responsible citizens. Biology also ensures that students have the necessary skills that prepares them for the next level of education in this subject.
