Subject Vision and Intent

At Darrick Wood School, we envision Economics as a subject that enables our students to develop a deep understanding of the world around them. We believe that Economics is not just about numbers and charts, but it is a discipline that helps students understand how decisions are made, how resources are allocated, and how individuals and societies interact with each other.

In our Economics curriculum, we aim to foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills in our students, as well as to promote the development of their analytical and communication abilities. Our students will learn about different economic systems, and they will explore the roles of governments, businesses, and individuals in these systems.

We also strive to make Economics relevant and engaging to our students by connecting it to real-world issues, such as poverty, inequality, and environmental sustainability. By studying Economics at our school, our students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions and contribute positively to society.
