The March family were well-known sculptors who lived, worked and did their own casting at a house in Locksbottom. This was called Goddendene and they lived there from 1902-1979. This was then demolished to make way for the Sainsbury’s supermarket. The family were particularly adept at producing and designing monuments and were responsible for the Vimy Ridge Memorial and the Canadian National Memorial in Ottawa. An example of their work is a large bronze casting of ‘Jesus setting his face to go to Jerusalem’ which is on the North Wall of the aisle in St Giles’ Church, Farnborough.
