At Darrick Wood School, English forms the foundation of our pupils’ learning, development and understanding of the world around them. Our English curriculum is designed to allow students to develop effective written and spoken communication, and to enjoy reading and studying a wide range of texts. Students will learn core English subject skills from close analysis to essay-writing and creative expression , together with the specific disciplinary knowledge of how texts work, their conventions and contexts. We aim to introduce our students to diverse, engaging and challenging texts to encourage thoughtful and creative responses to ideas and language.
