house system

Every student at Darrick Wood School in Years 7-11 is assigned to one of ten houses.  This means a whole tutor group will be under one house. Our houses represent someone from the area in History who have made a distinct impact and have been running at the school since it began.  Our houses are:

LUBBOCK
SAUNDERS
WILLETT
CROMPTON
DARWIN
HILL
MARCH
PITT

Sports Day is the main event in which houses compete against each other to win the House trophy, but we also give House points for:

  • Highest attendance
  • Highest Positive Points
  • Interhouse Sports Events
  • House competitions across the school

Year 10 have a House Captain in each Tutor Group who is responsible for relaying information and facilitating events across the lower years. This is a Leadership Opportunity and develops Life Learning Skills.
