“I don’t design clothes. I design dreams”
-Ralph Lauren –
At Darrick Wood School, our vision for Textiles is to empower students to become creative and independent learners, confident in their ability to design and make high-quality textile products. Through a range of practical projects and experiences, students will develop their skills in sewing, weaving, printing, and dyeing, as well as their understanding of textile materials and technologies.
We aim to foster a culture of innovation and problem-solving, encouraging students to experiment with new techniques and materials to create original and innovative designs. Through collaborative and independent work, students will develop their ability to communicate ideas, work to deadlines, and evaluate their own progress.
Our Textiles curriculum is designed to promote sustainability and ethical practice, inspiring students to consider the environmental and social impact of their designs. We aim to instil a passion for craftsmanship and creativity, and to equip students with the skills and knowledge to pursue further education or careers in textiles, fashion, or related industries.
